Open observation carriages
During the summer months, weather permitting, our open observation carriages are in operation on the train lines Rorschach Hafen-Heiden and Altstätten-Gais. They offer a magnificent view over Lake Constance or the
St. Gallen Rhine Valley. Feel the sun on your face, the wind in your hair and enjoy the cabriolet feeling. A once in a lifetime train experience.
Bicycle cart on the rail
Experience wonderful hours by bike or bicycle on the Stoss pass and relax during the ride on the Altstätten-Gais cog railroad. Conveniently load your bike into the bike carriage and enjoy the view of the Rhine Valley during the train ride.
Once at the top, you can start the next descent without having broken out in sweat at all. It doesn't matter whether you want to go on a leisurely bike tour, an exciting e-bike ride or a challenging mountain bike tour - countless bike routes lead you on a winding descent through the forest down into the Rhine Valley to Altstätten.
The bike wagon runs daily during the summer months but only with good weather conditions. By the way: E-bikes can be hired at Appenzell railroad station.
